Dave’s Domestic Household Agency is delighted to present an exceptional opportunity on behalf of a distinguished High Net Worth (HNW) family seeking an experienced House Manager to oversee the daily operation of two prestigious private country estates.
This is a permanent, long-term position for a highly organised, confident and proactive House Manager with previous experience working within private households. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring both estates are maintained and operated to the highest possible standards.
The Estates
The principal residence is located in the beautiful Berkshire countryside and sits within approximately 280 acres of private parkland, woodland and landscaped gardens. The family home is an elegant five-bedroom country residence, maintained to an exceptional standard throughout the year.
The successful House Manager will also oversee a second family estate located in Oxfordshire, providing part-time management and regular visits to ensure the smooth operation of the property and its staff.
Existing household team the Berkshire estate currently employs:
1 Full-Time Housekeeper
1 Personal Assistant (PA)
1 Part-Time Private Chef
3 Full-Time Gardeners
1 Experienced Domestic Couple
The Oxfordshire estate has an additional team of six household staff, all of whom will also fall under the supervision of the House Manager.
The Role
This is a varied and rewarding management position requiring someone who is equally comfortable coordinating indoor household operations and overseeing the wider estate. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills, be a natural team player and possess the confidence to manage multiple departments across two private estates.
The House Manager will be responsible for ensuring that every member of staff understands their responsibilities, that all work is completed to the family’s expectations, and that both properties operate efficiently at all times.
A significant part of the role involves coordinating the teams across both estates, maintaining excellent communication with the Principals and Personal Assistant, supervising contractors and ensuring that both the interior and exterior of each property are presented to the highest possible standard.
Key Responsibilities
Overall day-to-day management of both private estates
Leading, motivating and supporting household staff across both properties
Coordinating the daily activities of the Housekeeper, Domestic Couple, Gardeners, Chef and other employees
Supervising the six-member team based at the Oxfordshire estate
Ensuring excellent communication between all household departments
Overseeing both internal household operations and external estate maintenance
Managing external contractors, maintenance companies and specialist service providers
Monitoring ongoing maintenance projects from start to completion
Carrying out regular inspections of both estates
Coordinating seasonal maintenance programmes
Ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation throughout both properties
Working closely with the family’s Personal Assistant regarding schedules, projects and household requirements
Managing household inventories, supplies and purchasing where required
Organising staff rotas, annual leave and contractor schedules
Responding quickly and professionally to any maintenance or operational issues
Maintaining complete discretion and confidentiality at all times
Candidate Requirements
Previous House Manager experience within a private household or country estate is essential
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Strong leadership experience with the ability to manage established household teams
A genuine team player who leads with professionalism and respect
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Ability to oversee both indoor household operations and extensive outdoor estate management
Experience coordinating multiple teams simultaneously
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach
Ability to liaise confidently with contractors, suppliers and external companies
High attention to detail
Flexible, hands-on and willing to support the household whenever required
Professional appearance and excellent discretion
Full UK Driving Licence
Package
Salary: £80,000 per annum
